But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. (2 Corinthians 3:18, KJV)⁣ ⁣ Wild blueberries, simple ground-covering shrubs though they are, are absolutely delightful in every stage! The blossoms are delicate, shimmery, in varying shades of white and rose, gathering rays of sunshine like diamonds and dewdrops like crystals. Leaves are a mixture of green and crimson, growing ever more crimson as autumn draws near, transitioning into a winter-dress of scarlet twigs that bring a glow of warmth to the coldest winter field.⁣ ⁣ But the fruit is the most fun of all! Berries form in little clusters. They begin in a pale green that is almost white, and then mature through the most remarkable stages of color before settling into their trademark blueberry-blue! They will turn aqua, then palest pink deepening to rose…Their funny little pointy-tips will be contrasting, now green, now coral, now flame, now violet…And berries in each cluster ripen at their own pace, so on any wild blueberry bush, you can find stunning splashes of color individually accessorizing every branch! Fruit from the same vine, ripening towards the same end, at every stage maturing individually and differently and beautifully, much like God’s church…From glory to glory, indeed!⁣ ⁣ In this short series, I’m sharing the surprising beauty of a few of my favorite humble veggies from the homestead! When God made food to nourish our bodies, He made it both delicious and beautiful…He didn’t have to…But He did, because He is so very good and His abundance is always overflowing! In days when most of us get most of our food at the grocery store, I’ve learned that there’s a lot that we miss about the astonishing beauty that God effortlessly weaves in to the different stages of growth that yield our ready-to-eat produce – so I hope you’ll enjoy this handful of glimpses into a few of our simple foods.⁣ ⁣ God’s creation is full of reminders of His word! What do you see, in your world today, that reminds you of God’s promises? Share with #myworldthroughGodsword !⁣
