See God In…

…the frogs!

Be still, and know that I am God…

(Psalm 46:10, NIV)

There may not be anything more relaxed than a frog in a pond on a warm spring day! Just look at him, slowly drifting in the still waters, soaking up the sun, occasionally lifting up a song and sending out a ripple, then drifting slowly through the dappled sun again…

Frogs are super-sensitive to sound and movement. These little wood frogs disappear beneath the leaves on the bottom of the pond at the slightest hint of our approach. So we had to settle in for a quiet half-an-hour before they re-emerged and resumed their chill-fest.

You might ask, is it really worth it to sit for half an hour just to watch some frogs relaxing in a pond? And the answer is ~ absolutely!

One thing I have learned, and continue to learn ~ time spent quietly observing this world in which we live is never wasted if you see God there!

And there is plenty of God to see in the frogs, who are never worried about anything, who are always relaxed in the certainty of their Creator ~ not to mention, having played some fascinating roles in the Bible, from the plagues of Egypt (Ex. 8) to the unclean spirits of the end times (Rev. 16:13). So be still, wait for the frogs, and be reminded of God!

…the one who seeks finds…

(Matthew 7:8, NIV)

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

(Jeremiah 29:13, NIV)
