…the common things!
…do not call common what God has made clean…May the common things in our lives stir us to see the goodness of God in all things!
”And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.”
There was a time when men had to choose their foods based on a list of what was clean or unclean. But by His sacrifice, Jesus made all things clean, and brought fullness of understanding to the teaching of clean and unclean. You see, our food is not sanctified according to what it is, physically. Our food is sanctified by acknowledging God’s provision and thanking Him for all that He provides. It’s not a matter of the material – it’s a matter of the heart!
For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
Too often, the things that are common become things that are taken for granted, perhaps not really appreciated. But God has made all good things and graciously provides us with all things for our good! It’s not about looking at what we receive and deciding which things are good and which things are common – but rather looking at each little thing we receive and acknowledging how good it is!
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
