This loon is about to go fishing! Though he is a skillful hunter, he won’t catch a fish with every dive. But he is never disappointed or discouraged. He only continues his daily work, gracefully gliding along the shore, peeking beneath the waves, diving on the attack, repeating as necessary. He knows that it is his work to fish, and if he fishes, God will provide his daily bread.
God knows where all the fish are in our lives, too. And it is our good and patient work to do the tasks He assigns us today for the provision that we can’t yet see in our future.
He told them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it there, and they were unable to haul it in because of the great number of fish.
Here is the sea, vast and wide, teeming with creatures beyond number, living things both great and small…All creatures look to You to give them their food in due season.
…He loves the foreigner, giving him food and clothing. So you also must love the foreigner, since you yourselves were foreigners in the land of Egypt.
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
