This is a busy season, in all kinds of ways! When Joe is not busy in the workshop, turning stacks of wild apple and cherry into bowls and spoons and such…
…he is out on the farm, clearing and tilling and planting….
As he got these honey supers ready to go out to our growing colonies, I was suddenly struck by them…
…and out with the bees, inspecting and tending and feeding!
Struck, not by what they are, but by what they represent…
But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold. (Matthew 13:8, KJV)
The fruitful increase…You start with a small colony of bees…Soon, given the right conditions, given care and tending by faithful stewards, and the provision of God in the flowers of the trees and the field…Suddenly, there is not only enough for the winter, not only enough for the colony, but enough-and-to-spare!
These are the lessons that carry forward into all of our daily activities, whether it’s farming or bee-keeping, wood-working or plumbing, homeschooling or Bible-studying, working or resting or playing or praising…In all things, beginning with a small seed, diligently caring and tending, depending upon God for provision, we look forward to the fruitful increase, to the abundance of life lived according to His ways!
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. (Galatians 6:9, KJV)
